Vera Bradley History

• Vera Bradley makes several different types of handbags. Some names include the Amy, the Handbag, the Hipster, the Tote, the Morgan, the Hannah, the Betsy, and the Villager. The handbags are made out of quilted cotton and are released in a variety of patterns.
  
  Vera Bradley bags are soft brightly patterned bags that are somewhat inexpensive. They come in many sizes and many different patterns and colors. There are travel duffel, medium sized totes, large totes, purses, wallets, watches, belts, glass' cases, and cosmetic cases.
  
  There are also umbrellas, napkins and place-mats. These bags are commonly found in small shops, rather than large department stores. This tends to give them more of a personal character.
  
  However, these bags are becoming so popular that it is hard for them to be personal. Many consumers choose a certain pattern, whether it be Bermuda Blue or Piccadilly Plum, and purchase many matching bags in different sizes creating a collection.
  
  Another interesting fact about Vera Bradley bags is that after a pattern is on the market for a while, they retire it. Typically, when the pattern is being retired, that pattern goes on sale. When patterns retire, new ones are produced. This way, there are patterns created that suit a woman of any age or personality.

  The company was founded in 1982 by Patricia Miller and Barbara Bradley Baekgaard, and named after Baekgaard's mother.
  
  Vera Bradley's corporate headquarters are currently based in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
